The “Award Props” have been known to return great investments for bettors and with all the talent expected to take the field in 2020, we could see that trend continue with first-year players in the NFL.
- Quarterback Justin Herbert of the Los Angeles Chargers remains the top choice on the oddsboard in the latest edition. BetOnline has listed Herbert as the -2000 favorite in NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year Award odds, followed by wideout Justin Jefferson (+900) and Jonathan Taylor (+900) to round out the choices. See Odds Shark’s Best NFL Sites.
- History tells us that either a quarterback or a running back will be named Offensive Rookie of the Year and the NFL Rookie Odds certainly lean that way again in 2020. Quarterbacks, running backs.
- At FanDuel Sportsbook, the odds for Offensive Rookie of the Year are one of the most intriguing among the early betting markets. Top overall pick Joe Burrow, who went to the Cincinnati Bengals, has.
- The 2020-21 NFL season is on the horizon and NFL futures are set for Super Bowl 55 and a host of annual awards. Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow, the 2019 Heisman Trophy winner out of LSU and No. 1 overall pick in the NFL Draft, has the best preseason odds to win Offensive Rookie of the Year honors.
CeeDee Lamb is arguably the best receiver taken in this year’s NFL Draft. Lamb has the seventh-best odds and sits at +1500 to win Offensive Rookie of the Year. In 2019, Lamb had over 1300 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns.

To no one's surprise, the top options on the board is a quarterback. Former Oregon standout Justin Herbert has been starting for the Chargers since Week 2 and although Los Angeles has struggled to win games, the quarterback has already thrown 23 touchdowns and amassed six 300-yard passing games.
Herbert is currently the odds-on favorite at -450 odds (Bet $100 to win $22.22). Bengals' quarterback and top pick Joe Burrow was hanging around for the award, but those hopes were dashed when he sustained a season-ending knee injury in a Week 11 loss at Washington.
The most recent quarterback to shine is Miami's Tua Tagovailoa, who is now in the discussion at +1500 odds. Tagovailoa has made five starts and won four of them for the Dolphins, as he is coming off a victory over the Bengals in Week 13.
The only non-quarterback in the discussion is Vikings' wide receiver and Burrow's former college teammate at LSU Justin Jefferson. The wideout leads Minnesota in receiving yards with 1,039 yards as Jefferson has vaulted to 9/2 odds to capture Rookie of the Year honors.

The Kansas City Chiefs selected LSU RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire with pick No. 32 in the 2020 NFL Draft. The pick has been met with near-universal praise, with love for the pairing between Edwards-Helaire and Chiefs coach Andy Reid.
Following the draft, BetMGM has released their opening odds for the winner of the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award in 2020. Edwards-Helaire ranks fifth among those players, with +1000 odds to win the award. He’s the third running back on the list behind Lions RB D’Andre Swift (Second at +850) and Colts RB Jonathan Taylor (Fourth at +950). Both of those players were drafted in the second round shortly after Edwards-Helaire.
2020 Nfl Offensive Rookie Of The Year Odds
The player who leads the odds is none other than No. 1 overall pick, Bengals QB Joe Burrow (+200). Finally, Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa comes in at third with +900 odds. Quarterbacks tend to historically have the best early odds. Somewhat surprisingly, in a draft class dubbed as a superior receiver class, no wide receivers are in the top five in Offensive Rookie of the Year odds.
I’m a little surprised that Edwards-Helaire isn’t listed higher. He’s been drafted to the most explosive offense in the NFL that is also coming off of a Super Bowl win. Edwards-Helaire’s game has already been compared to NFL greats like Priest Holmes, Brian Westbrook, Darren Sproles and even Barry Sanders. He’ll also benefit from one of the most creative play-callers in the NFL with Reid.
Nfl Rookie Of The Year List
The only thing that makes sense is that oddsmakers believe Damien Williams will make a big dent in Edwards-Helaire’s ability to see the field. I’m not so convinced yet that Edwards-Helaire won’t beat Williams out as an early-down back in Kansas City, which could put the ball in his court to become a bell-cow type of rusher for the Chiefs.
What do you think, Chiefs Kingdom? Are the oddsmakers too high, too low, or just right on Edwards-Helaire’s Offensive Rookie of the Year odds? Let us know on Facebook and Twitter.
